Our Work
It is our endeavour to help create environments where children of all ages, especially those whose circumstances lead to lack of resources and opportunities, receive nurturing care, whether they are in anganwadis, pre-schools and schools, or in their homes and communities. Nurturing care involves ensuring that children experience good health, adequate nutrition, a sense of physical and emotional safety, responsive caregivers and ample opportunities to learn through experience and meaning-making. Towards this end, we work with parents, communities and governments to deepen an understanding of, and commitment to, nurturing care environments as well as the necessary skilling to ensure that they are in a position to provide them.
Our approach to inspiring change
As an organization, FCL has substantial experience and expertise in employing a variety of approaches to working with its collaborators, whether from the government or the private sector. Key features of the FCL philosophy and approach include:
- Development of products and strategies for sustainability and adaptability at medium or large scale.
- Working through collaborative and co-creative partnerships to ensure active and constructive role of all participants, especially relevant in case of government departments.
- Model and judicious use of low-cost technology to suit the needs of a resource-constrained country like ours.
- Embedding of research in ongoing programs to ensure that new learning is incorporated in to our programmes and the knowledge built during the course of our implementation is disseminated widely.
- Structuring of skill and capacity-building programmes in an iterative, feedback-sensitive, implementation-focussed approach rather than a one-time training approach
